Christmas 2008

Wow! Christmas went by so quickly. We had a very quite morning, which is so different from when my brother and I were little. Now we are older, and have added someone in the mix. It was funny when his girlfriend and I wore the same color that day. Everyone who has seen the picture can't believe that he and I are related, and if they didn't know, would have thought that she and I were related. I got exactly what I wanted for christmas (ie. pictures of kids I care for, money, printer, and a fire safe box among other things). This is the first christmas since I have moved from my parents' house.

This year, my parents decided that us kids were in charge of deserts. My brother and his girlfriend brought fondu, and I planned on making pumpkin pie. As you can see in the photo, my pies fell on the ground. I made the pies Christmas Eve, they looked really good, and not ten minutes after I took them out of the oven, Baby cat knocked them unto the ground. My parents and I were floored, and I then was upset about it. We have always had pumpkin for desert every christmas for as far back as I can remember. We did survive without it this year although I did not like that idea.

After we had lunch, my brother and his girlfriend went her parents' house to celebrate and I went to my aunt and uncle's house to celebrate there. I had a great time spending time with my extended family. It reminded me of when I was younger. We talked and played a game called "Partini." Once we played it once, everybody decided it was time to leave. I was able to get pictures of us three older grandkids. My mom and their dad are siblings. The three of us are only half of the grandkids. We also are the three oldest girls out of four girls. Then there are two boys. Of the three of us older ones, I am the only one not married.

A Year since Graduation

I can not believe how much things have changed since last December. I have been working with the family with two kids for just over 10 months. I have enjoyed working with them, and working with a church as well. I love working with kids.

8 Months Later

So much has happened since my last posting. I have been working with the family I mentioned back in my last post for the last 8 months. I love working for them, and I love the kids a lot. It has been amazing to watch them grow. The little boy is 3 now, and going to preschool 3 mornings a week. The baby is now a year old, and growing like a weed. I feel like part of the family though I do have distance on particular events that are part of their family, just as they keep their distance on events in my family.

In June, my computer stopped working completely. We thought it was just the hard drive, but it turned out that it wasn't the only problem it had. I ended up having to buy a whole new computer. I love my new computer, but miss parts of my old computer.

In July, I had to move closer to where I work and go to school. It just made a lot more sense that I moved closer due to several different reasons. The main reasons were financially (gas and school), and weather related.

Then at the end of September, on my way to a football game at my college alma mater, my car broke down. It is sitting at my parent's house right now, and I have a brand new car. I got a 2007 Ford Fusion, and I got it pre-owned. I love it. The kiddos love it too.

In my family news, I have family coming down next weekend. I won't be able to see them the whole time, but my hope is that I will be able to have a day off to visit with them. Also, my maternal grandma made my dress for Halloween.

So busy

Well I am certainly glad that I have my degree now. I have been super busy since then. Christmas was great. My parents drove me crazy for almost two months about me getting a job. I am so glad that I now have a job.

I am nanny for a family with two children about thirty minutes away from where I live. Right now I am in a trial period for the family and I hope that I can continue to work with the family.

I am also back in school to get a certificate to interpret sign language.

I will be glad when everything is settled.

1 Month to go

I can not believe that I will be graduating in a month by dates and by weeks it will be 4 weeks on friday. I am glad that I have gotten a couple things out of the way with. Just a few things left to do.
Cultural Diversity- critical analysis paper on religious diversity due November 26th and a final exam on December 11th.
Family Life Education- group project presentation due on November 19th and the paper to the project due November 28th.
Special Education- One final test on December 6th.
Internship- Redo of a weekly reflection and an online discussion due this Friday. Final Report due next Tuesday November 20th.
Please pray for me to get through the next couple of weeks, and that I pass all of my classes.

In other news, the baby kitten is almost 11 weeks old. He is doing great, and we all think that he is mean because he loves to play and bite.

5 weeks 2 days til graduation

I have been so busy with school that it is not even funny. I was done as of halloween with my internship hours which I am very sad about. I really enjoyed being there, and I definitely grew in how I react and what I do. I learned so much about how to run a shelter which gave me an idea of what my parents have gone through to maintain a household while raising kids.

I have several things that are left to do in my classes. In my internship class, I still have one or two online discussions and a final report. In my cultural diversity class, I have group project due on monday, a final exam, and a critical analysis paper. In my survey of exceptionality (special education course), I have two exams left. In the class I hate the most, Family Life Education, I have a test today and one group project.

There is so much due within the next two weeks that I hope that I do not get too stress out at what is going on around me. I got to go work on some of these. Wish me luck.

Almost done

I can not believe how busy I have been with being at school full time with internship and working three part time jobs. It is a wonder that I have time to have fun. Luckly I like my internship and one of my jobs allows to go places and do what I want to do (Three year olds are moble and can be placed in the car to go places).

School keeps me super busy. With three writing intensive courses, I have to stay on top of what I need to do or I fall behind to point of not getting good grades. I like most of my classes, but really drives me insane since I am not really learning anything and do not plan to be that type of educator in the family sciences. My grades are pretty good though I wish that I had more time to work on some of those grades. Oh well.

I am really excited about the last weekend of this month as one of my best friends comes to visit and stay the weekend. We will be going to our high school homecoming, going to a theme park, making home made graduation invitations, and going to church. I do not know what else we might do, but we sure have a lot to do already.

For those who are wondering, the kitten is doing really well. He is almost seven weeks old, and very cute. He loves to play, but gets really rough ( I have the bite and claw marks to prove it) in playing. He likes to eat, and he likes walking into my room at night.

Well I got to go. I need some r and r.
